When Michigan Farm Bureau embarked on a large-scale renovation of its 181,000-square-foot, three-story headquarters — home to 800 employees — the goal was clear: create a workplace shaped by its people, designed for flexibility, and ready for future change.

From the earliest stages, the team piloted and tested layouts, conference zones, and acoustic elements, gathering employee feedback that informed everything from workstation density to daylight access and adjacency strategies.

At the core of the architectural solution was a modular system logic—wall systems, glass partitions, flexible enclosures, and acoustic pods—that allows spaces to shift without demolition. Glass walls preserve daylight and visual connection while defining focus and collaboration zones. Dedicated quiet booths, acoustic treatments, and ergonomic furnishings ensure physical and cognitive comfort across work modes.

Community was also key. A Town Hall with movable walls adapts from large gatherings to training spaces, while lounges, cafés, and social zones foster informal connection and shared culture.

Because every architectural element is designed to reconfigure, Michigan Farm Bureau can evolve with changing teams, technologies, and ambitions—without disruption or waste. The result is a people-centered workplace that balances flexibility, performance, and enduring value.
